As part of an ongoing project to provide access to digital content, the Benson Ford Research Center has begun to post images taken by renown auto racing photographer Dave Friedman. The entire BFRC team had a hand in making this material available for the public. As Digital Project Archivist, I helped make the files accessible by normalizing the directory and file names to match the titles in the finding aid, as well as planning the entire workflow and overseeing the initial preservation of the files as part of the archive’s digital preservation program.
These photos represent the largest body of digital material the BFRC has made available to the public. We are using Flickr as a method to deliver this material until we have a more robust local delivery system capable of delivering archival material and collection level description. Stay tuned because more is on the way!!
